Antique Kasuri Boro Sheet | Japanese Indigo
Kasuri 絣 is the Japanese style of ikat, where the threads of the material are resist-dyed before being woven. Hand sewn Boro patchwork made form Inigo dyed cotton. This was patched and reinforced with sashiko stitching. Boro is a Japanese form of recycling coming from an economic necessity in which fabric is patched on the reverse side to preserve the usability. The beauty comes from the unintentional artistry created from layers of mending.
